Become Defenders of Dignity

Corporate teams across the country are taking up the challenge…

What can be done to support those living in crisis and experiencing period poverty?

Hosted by professional facilitators, Share the Dignity ‘Defenders of Dignity’ Challenge includes interactive fast-paced simulation exercises and thought-provoking discussions that promotes teamwork, increased empathy and more open minds. The results?

  • Strengthened teams with greater appreciation of their colleagues.
  • Heightened awareness about the amazing work Share the Dignity does to deliver on their vision that access to period products is a right not a privilege everyone deserves.
  • Increased social impact by supporting a charity that helps give young girls and women the dignity they deserve that so many of us take for granted.

Since Share the Dignity was first founded in March 2015 by ‘Pad Lady’ Rochelle Courtenay, she and her team of volunteers have collected and distributed over 2.7 million period products across Australia to those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or suffering extreme financial hardship.

Share the Dignity works in partnership with other charities and community organisations to distribute period products to those in need doing it tough and work to end period poverty in Australia:

  • They collect thousands of period products each year through collection drives and distribute them directly to charities, community organisations and schools so that those most in need get the dignity they deserve, including in drought-stricken and indigenous communities.
  • They support remote communities across Australia that do not have access to clean water,  working toilets and affordable period products, where the cost of period      products is higher by distributing thousands of period product packs to those in need via schools and community centres so they are empowered to  take control of their period.
  • They campaigned for the successful end of the $30 million a year Tampon Tax.

They believe that without ending the shame and stigma that clouds periods, we cannot end period poverty so they also advocate for change, working with researchers to explore the issues people experiencing period poverty face and seek to educate people on their realities.

“Share the Dignity has a community of passionate supporters who want to help others. They are the true face of Share the Dignity and their acts of kindness are the moments that change the world.”

Rochelle Courtenay, Founder, Share the Dignity Australia

“Without the support of our amazing volunteers and all the time they generously give us, we would not have been able to help the hundreds of thousands of women and girls across Australia.”

Simon Tolhurst, Chairperson, Share the Dignity Australia

“Sadly there are thousands of women and girls in Australia either experiencing homelessness, financial hardship or victims of violence. This is why the support of corporate groups is so critical.”
