Since 1964, their Community Service Centre at Kings Cross and more recently Bondi have been working to support vulnerable people in our community who are experiencing homelessness and isolation. They provide people with a safe place to go and meals, personalised care and vital essentials such as showers and emergency clothing, as well as information and referral services to:
Wayside Chapel operates a range of onsite services and outreach programs that place dignity, respect and love at the heart of their approach. They see everyone who walks through the door as a person to be met, not a problem to be solved.
“Homelessness is an issue, but the homeless are people and we can’t separate the two. Any response we make is a human one. This is a really tangible way to explore the connections between the two and to help us serve and create change”.
Jon Owen, Pastor & CEO of Wayside Chapel
“Wayside Chapel is unique. It has become the heart and soul of Sydney. This place has touched countless lives, from the streets to high society. This is a place where love prevails.”
His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), 27th Governor-General of Australia and former Patron of Wayside Chapel
“We are thrilled to be able to offer this exciting program to the corporate community, helping them bring their teams together to foster greater connection, meaning and purpose.”
Laura Henry, Head of Marketing and Fundraising
Wayside Chapel
10-30 people
2 hours online with interactive activities and team challenges.
Participants will have the opportunity to self-reflect, draw parallels to their team and work environments and consider how their own actions impact others. They will explore the different roles within a team and the importance that each team member has in reaching the end goal. They will be challenged to look at new ideas and how they can use those to improve the world around them.
You'll discover ways the charity serves the community and supports those people experiencing homelessness and social isolation, whilst gaining some useful insights and tips for yourself. You'll brainstorm and discuss new ideas and ways the charity may be able to support their community. You'll also get to know your colleagues and have fun whilst increasing your social impact! All ideas will be shared directly with Wayside Chapel to help them in their mission to create a community with “no us and them".
If you're looking to expand your teams perspective, challenge your own world view and learn more about one of Sydney's most iconic charities, this is the team challenge for you. Your team will participate in an engaging session filled with fun activities, and will leave with a fresh outlook on the issues facing society.
