true team transformation

blog: shifting the perception

041423 Large Starlight Accenture RevathyIf you ask a business leader what they hope to get from a team building session they’ll say for their people have fun and get to know each other better. Whilst they also expect the team’s motivation levels to peak, what they really hope for is that the group becomes a more harmonious team so they work together more seamlessly, efficiently and productively.

This is a noble goal, but can is it realistic to expect a short-term fun-focused activity alone to deliver that sort of long-term change?

We don’t think so.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that most team building sessions are really more team bonding sessions. Fun yes, interesting for sure, but designed to foster deep connection, build trust levels and cultivate higher levels of respect? Not likely.

That’s why we believe team building sessions need to be more than just a fun time and entertaining activity, but be structured in a way to allow for deeper and more meaningful connections.

That’s also why it’s so important to provide a safe space & platform to avoid work topics and talk about things that are considered truly important – the sorts of topics that friends talk about at BBQs and dinner parties – namely the important things in life – health, family, friends and life in general.

This is why each of our different programs focus on a different charity and the incredible work they do in the community.

Your people not only learn about what the charity does but how they do what they do. By learning about their secret sauce, they gain valuable insights they can make use of. They also learn about themselves and share stories & life lessons around topics of personal interest with their colleagues. This sharing rewards vulnerability and promotes team collaboration & trust.

Team building sessions should always be fun, interactive and engaging, but the real value comes when the group can learn and grow from the experience. That makes them memorable and transformative.

That’s Team Building with Purpose.
